It has been a reasonably big week for Breedable brands this last week. HunnyBunny opened on it’s own SIM. Ozimals was forced to ban avatars due to abuse of the goodwill of Ozimals customers and some copybotting attempts, and Petable Turtle ‘birthstone’ fever hit the grid.PinkyPigs had an update, and we received some sad news for sion Chickens with the ill health of one of the personalities involved.

Breedables Overall
The main movement seen generally in breedables this last week was possibly the opening up of two large previously exclusive markets to all breedables.
The Farm and Bunnies SIM
Last Tuesday, The Farm’s Bunnies SIM was opened to all brands of breedables. Previously this market SIM had an exclusive agreement with the HunnyBunny business, but that arrangement ends February 3rd. However, the SIM itself is being re-designed and won’t be open to rentals until this coming Thursday 4th at 8am SLT.
The Farm has opened a live bunnies barn on the Chickens SIM, which appears to be quite popular for Ozimals breeders in particular.
With the move to ALL breedables, and the fact that The Farm has a large in-world group, the advertising of animals has been opened up inside of this group. Before, only those with stores and stalls on The Farm SIMs could advertise their sales through the group. SLurls to other areas, whether personal or otherwise, were not allowed in advertising. Now anybody can advertise and provide a slurl to where the animals can be viewed or purchased, even if not on The Farm sims, provided that other markets are not named. Always check the latest group notifications to confirm the covenants on group advertising.
Turtle Xchange Market & Orphanage
Friday saw an announcement from Turtle Xchange which now welcomes other AI pets – the provisio being that only turtles are allowed to be ‘live’. This means other breedables must be ether boxed eggs or nests. Additionally, the minimum price lists will no longer be enforced.
SL Breedables & AI Pets Group on Avatars United
With The Chicken Diaries team members and general avatar joining up on Avatars United, we took the liberty of opening up a new group for Breedables on there. We subsequently found that there is an Breedables group on Avatars United, in unison with an in-world group, but our one is for discussion and news rather than advertising, so both appear complementary. So far we have put up several news items for Breedables as they have happened in-world, so we welcome any new members to that AU group to support the news ticking over.
HunnyBunny Bunnies
Random Color Day
Wednesday 27th saw the advertised ‘Random Color’ Day. Any starter or breeder packs bought beforehand and hatched in this precse 24 hour period had random colors of bunnies away from the official cyan, magenta and yellow. This was a one day only opportunity.
HunnyBunny Resellers and Vendors
In a similar vein to what Ozimals has previously done with it’s own logos and textures, to save abuse of the official HunnyBunny logo, all second party sellers of HunnyBunny products or animals must now no longer use the HunnyBunny logo and textures outright.
HunnyBunny has sent out new textures to be used, communicating that merchants are now ‘HunnyBunny Resellers’. Always look for those logos and textures when purchasing outside of the new mainstore or on SIM.
HunnyBunny has now brought out reseller vendors, available to be installed at your own reseller market or store. You will need to apply for these via a notecard and have Hunny Larimore install these for you.
New SIM
Hunny Larimore announced last week the movement of HunnyBunny away from the Bunnies SIM setup by The Farm, who were the major sponsors for HunnyBunny whilst in beta. HunnyBunny would have it’s own SIM.
As announced by both The Farm and HunnyBunny, the HB exclusive arrangement ends February 3rd, and the Farm is currently re-designing the Bunnies SIM to open to all brands of breedables (see Breedables General news above).
The new HunnyBunny SIM was opened up on Sunday 31st January, without huge pomp and circumstance. Hunny sent out a notecard describing the new heart-shaped SIM and it’s features, and later the landmark was sent out.
The SIM itself indicates the new branding for HunnyBunny – the land title reads ‘HunnyBunny – The Color Bunnies of SL’. I went and took a look a few hours later during a quiet time, and enjoyed some of the areas there. Rentals for market stalls are still available for HB breeders.
First Rare born – A Lop
Just as we were about to go to press, the HunnyBunny Farmers group in-world got the news that a lop-earred bunny had just been born. This is the first rare of HB bunnies, and Hunny Larimore suggests these are very rare. Born to Jackk Eales, he proudly sent through an image of his little yellow lop-earred baby bunny to the group. This will most probably be available up on HunnyBunny’s official flickr group and elsewhere too. If you can’t wait for a shot, I received permission to use it on Avatars United, where you will find it on TCD Breedables group there.

Ozimals Bunnies
Banned Avatars
Last Tuesday Ozimals took an unprecedented step not seen before in the breedables industry in publicly communicating the banning of one particular avatar and her alts from owning or selling Ozimals bunnies. A notecard was sent out warning people in the Ozimals community regarding the multiple instances of abuse of terms of service etc from this particular character.
The particular person involved, Hudson Novak, still belonged to the ‘What’s Up Oz’ group which is also the name for the orphanage in the middle of this controversy. This group appears to now be disbanded.
On Sunday Ozimals again issued warnings to please ban DoMme Crystal from any parcels containing Ozimals, as they were copybotting the bunnies. This comes with a reminder that all Ozimals bunnies and accompanying products should bear the name Aeron Constantine as the seller, and no other. Aeron is the business avatar for the Ozimals brand.
Alien Bunneh
Sunday was the last day for the sale of Ozimals [europa] Alien Bunnies. Proceeds from Ozimals side of sales are going to yele.org, in support of Haiti relief causes. From Monday onwards your only way of getting these elite bunnies is to purchase from an Ozimals reseller. As yet, we have not seen any for re-sale.
LAP Poses
Dove Swanson, of Long Awkward Poses, who provided the original poses found for holding an Ozimals bunny has brought out a collection of new poses which you can use when posing with your favourite bunny.
Wyrmwood’s Breed Posters
On 1st February, L0rissia Fraisse of Wyrmwood released the large breeds gallery of images onto full perm posters for use in-world. These should always be free to use. We added Lorissia’s blog to the Ozimals info page here at The Chicken Diaries, as it is THE major source of information on breeds for Ozimals bunnies and contains other very important information outside of the official Ozimals support site.

Petable Turtles
Birthstone Pursuits
Petable Turtle live and egg markets skyrocketed this last week, due to the demand for special trait turtles in the pursuit of the new specials, the first of which was the January birthstone – a garnet. While prices of breeding age live special turtles moved up, there was a corresponding drop in prices on many shine and glow ordinary turtles, as many breeders sort to move this stock off markets to make room for the demanded specials.
Any Birthstones actually put out for sale were snapped up for large amounts of lindens, often by breeders looking to locate breeding pairs of the birthstones to increase chances for another in the next month. Since the switch-over to February, the January birthstone prices are slowly dropping from their peak at over L$10,000.
The Petable chat groups were kept rolling with announcements towards the arrival of a birthstone, but there remained some disappointed smaller breeders who didn’t have one of these Birthstones arrive. On a personal note, it became a close call for our own small holding on whether we would ever get one also, however ours arrived late in the week, and we also were fortunate enough to get two more in a last minute rush of Birthstones right on the last day of January.
On 1st February the new month’s birthstone – an amethyst – arrived. At 12:35am Shelly Macchi had the first clutch to contain the new Birthstone. Several others were laid over the next few hours.
New Points Item
On Friday the Live turtle trader ticked past 50 percent, meaning an announcement hint on the next points item. The hint, also found on the Petable official blog, caused lots of queries and excitement through the Petable chat groups, as it hints at a tool for decreasing the turtle’s food requirements.
Wearable Turtles
Petable brought out a new product, allowing us all to wear our favourite turtles. The Wearable Turtle is the faux turtle which is worn, and via a licensed process you can then choose one of your turtles, and have the wearable turtle take on it’s appearance.

PinkyPigs
Update to Version 2.1
PinkyPigs updated to Version 2.1 during the week. The new updater –Version 2.1, is available at the mainstore, but will only be out for two weeks until February 4th. Once updated, your PinkyPigs HUD should be at version 2.0.
This update corrected a registration delay with newborn piglets, and moved the pigs to an outside server so that data is now backed up. Here at The Chicken Diaries farm, we noticed a huge difference immediately, when a little piglet was born and was instantly alive, without needing to register her to the hud.
New Vendors are also out with this update, necessary so that people can still buy pig packs with the updated HUD. Commission vendors are free.
Trade In Unwanted Pigs
On Sunday the PinkyPig Updates group was tempted by the announcement of the ability to trade in unwanted pigs for items. 3 piggies for 1 food or mud, 5 piggies for 2. This commenced Sunday, but we are unsure if it has yet been stopped.
PlantPets
No changes on this front.
(note that the in-world PlantPets update group is closed to new members, and the PlantPets blog has not been updated for some time, so there isn’t an easy way of hearing of any news from this front).
Pound Puppies [Updated]
Last week in Breedable Weekly news we found that Pound Puppies was facing a potential law suit. The in-world beta group had not heard any news up until this blog was published. Later Tuesday the excellent news that the copywrite allegations had been dealt with through a Colorado court of law, and Pound Puppies has been found to own the copywrites for Second Life. With this news comes the return of display dogs at the Pound Puppies HQ, plus upcoming first closed beta release.
sionChickens and sionLife
After the announcement of ill-health for one main figure in sionChicken support, the main in-world groups have remained ticking over slowly. The Chicken Guardian advertising group continues to hold adverts for chickens for sales. Many sionChicken breeders have continued to sell off all their stock, to make way for other breedables – Ozimals Bunnies are the main competitor here. This sell off of some rarer breeds of sionChickens has also seen more interest in them from a few new to the brand, with newbie questions entering the groups again. This has been something nice to see for sionChickens at least.
