Breedables Weekly News Roundup 13th -19th October

by AuntyAudrie on October 20, 2009

Well, my niece told me that it’s my job to bring out the weekly roundup on the Breedables front for this week, as she’s gone off writing and doing some homework in real life. It won’t be tough, she said, because nothing much has happened.

I’m not sure I got the format right, but here goes…

Ozimals Bunnies

  • We were promised the open beta, but it didn’t arrive this last week, and I’m not that impatient for it personally. The Ozimals people have kept their groups updated on a regular basis of progress – the delay has been deliberate to allow for the ‘optimisation of code’ and addition of some new features for the bunnies, and the testing of these before beta release.
  • During the week, Ozimals introduced its new developer / coder joining the team – Neobokrug Elytis, who has developed and managed The Wastelands, and worked previously for The Electric Sheep Company (I got this off the notecard they sent out – Pacific tells me I should be impressed, but I haven’t a clue what any of them are talking about).
  • On a personal front, because Pacific realised the bunnies are changing, she took away our last lot of beta bunnies from the barn. We’ve not had bunnies out for a week now almost, and since the very day she deleted all of them, the chickens have kept me busy laying three eggs each pair a day. Obviously we are filling up our homestead a bit much with animals. (I am trying not to say something sarcastic here towards my niece and her infatuation with pets). When we do get the real bunnies eventually, we’ll keep all the animals down to a bare minimum.

Petable Turtles

  • An update on the official blog gave news of a special turtle egg release, known as the ‘Anomaly Egg’ This egg was released because of an accidental release of a test egg for the ‘Crash Turtle’ to one lucky person. Now, anybody with a spare 20,000 points can purchase or swap their points for this ‘Anomaly Egg’ which they can then hatch, give away to a friend, or sell. The Anomaly egg is like the crash turtle in that it poofs out fireworks, but it’s blue.
  • Since then, somebody has been overly advertising their anomaly egg for auction through several of the in-world turtle advertising groups. A crash egg is being sold for L$2500, but I’m unsure what an Anomaly egg might fetch in Linden dollars.
  • Full group bowls – which can be swapped for points – are now transferrable, meaning you can on-sell them, or give them to friends who don’t have enough points. Pacific just went out lately and used up her thousands of points on big bowls so that we can hopefully keep our own turtle flock fed while we go off on a family holiday next week. We have no points now at all
  • Unwanted turtles will be able to be traded in through something called the Turtle Vortex. This will add to a running meter resulting in new points prizes. Announced via groups and an announcement blog on the Petable official blog.
  • The Seven Seas fishing pond at the Petable store has been updated with some turtle prizes provided by support staff, Shelly. There are a couple of exclusive halloween themed turtles available if you go fish there. You can wear them, apparently. So I’m going to give it a go too.

HunnyBunny Bunnies

  • No news again this week towards the state of the beta testing or release date for HunnyBunnies, although Ozzie Drucker (an owner of The Farm) let slip on the in-world update group that HunnyBunny was in the last stages of beta testing, and the release might be expected soon. That was last Thursday.
  • The official HunnyBunny Blog has an entry towards the beta testing promising to release more details on the bunny features at a later date. At this moment HunnyBunny is concentrating on the bunny security systems.
  • HunnyBunny Headquarters moved to the Bunnies Sim and a post was put up about this on the official blog on the 15th October. Bunnies, as part of The Farm franchise, is the major sponsor of HunnyBunny, and the move seems somewhat inevitable to me, and will save some confusion with that SIM already having a large lot of emblazoned logos of HB across the larger stores in place.
  • Yesterday the website for HunnyBunny went down for maintenance, not the blog though.

HB Blog :

  1. More news about Beta (14th october)
  2. HunnyBunny’s Headquarters move (15th october)

sionChickens and sionLife
