——————————————————Greetings and welcome to the amazing world of sionCorn !!
This starter set includes all you’ll need to get you up and running with beautiful fields of colourful corn plants.
Once your corn plants grow and the cobs mature, you will be able to use your new cobs to make new plants or to make food to sell to sionChicken raisers.
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3 … or at least it may seem that way. However, you will find it is not so simple and it will take attention and time to yield the best crops.
Keep in mind that all Sion products are left click only and that all products need to be set to the same group as the land if the land has been deeded to a group. Before starting, please ensure your group tag is activated and worn.
In your starter set you will find a mature cobserver, a water bucket, sionSoil, and of course, this handy note card.[ Bucket filling ]
First we need to fill up the bucket. Wear the water bucket and go to the sea to fill it. Prim water is not the same as Linden water and won’t work to fill the buckets. Once you get to the sea, walk into the water and dip the bucket under to click it. Watch chat for a message saying your bucket is full.
[ Add Fertilizer ]
This is the ideal way to ensure your plants are growing tall and strong to produce the highest possible yield.
Just rezz your small fertilizer bottle close to the water bucket and click it to increase the amount to the level you need. Young plants need a fertilizer concentration of about 20%. The fertilizer amount usually decreases with plant age![ Cob placing ]
Now you need to find a safe place to grow your corn away from high traffic areas. Once the corn is planted, it can’t be moved without killing it. That’s right !! It’s alive !!!
sionCorn needs to be grown on Linden Land (the ground) so for skyboxes, you will need to use the sionCorn soil. Once you have your area selected and set up, you are ready to plant your first plants and get your fields started.
Make sure you are wearing your group tag and rezz your sionCorn cobserver to the middle of your area by dragging it from your inventory to the ground. Then drag your bucket a couple of meters away from the cobserver but make sure it is within three meters of the cobserver. Each cob will produce multiple plants that will grow around the cob in all directions. Each plant, when fully grown, will be 18 prims at max. Please ensure you have enough prims available for each plant to grow to maturity. They will begin as a single 1 prim stem and it won’t be long before you can see exactly how many plants your cob produced.
Once you are ready for your corn to start growing, left click the cobserver to release the cob inside. It will float above the ground a bit. Make sure it is where you want it to be and adjust the position if needed. Don’t try to bury it underground, it doesn’t like dark places and will get frightened.
WARNING! DO NOT TAKE CORNCOBS BACK INTO YOUR INVENTORY, WITHOUT FIRST PLACING IT INTO A COBSERVER!
[ Germination ]
Once you are happy with the position, click the bucket and water your corncob.
In a few days you will begin to see little sprouts popping up around the cob. The cob will delete on it’s own once it has produced all the plants possible from that cob. This will be a good time to count the number of plants and make sure you have enough prims open to support each plant that has started.WARNING! DO NOT PUT THE LIVING PLANT INTO YOUR INVENTORY, IT CAN ONLY SURVIVE WHERE IT HAS GERMINATED
[ Watering ]
As mentioned before, young plants need a fertilizer ratio of 20%. The more frequent you are watering your plants the better! If you’re able to water every 6 hours, only click the bucket once. If you’re watering every 24 hours repeat the watering procedure for four times!
If you do not want to water your plants manually, consider purchasing the sionCorn sprinkler![ Growth ]
As your plants start to grow and produce cobs of corn, you will need to adjust water and fertalizer settings to find the right mix for your crops. This is where it gets tricky and how well you do, will determine how well your crops do. Keep a close eye on how dark or light the leaves are on a regular basis so you know when to change your sprinkler settings.
Less fertilizer usually results in yellow leaves, where less water will make the plant appear brownish.
If leaves turn dark reduce the fertilizer amount because too much fertilizer will reduce corn yield!Fertilizer refills, additional mature cobs, and cobservers can be purchased from Boardman Sion HQ
