Our little homestead has been suffering some horrific lag lately. There are flying turtles everywhere you look. So much so that some are guaranteed to not be in their terraniums or habitats when we return to Second Life the next day. What makes up for it is the birth of our very first glowing turtle.
The lag here has got so bad that Pacific got sick of picking up wondering turtles off the ground so she has resorted today to putting invisible tops on all the pens. The turtles still float up into the air, but the tops seem to help them bounce back down back into the right area – where their food is. We’ve previously had to pick up at least one turtle, sometimes two, who have escaped their habitats – and some of those habitats are quite high in vertical height.
We don’t know why the lag is so chronic around here, it seems to have altered – to the negative – since the last big Second Life region resets. Our sionChickens are down to a minimum, and Pacific’s sionCorn crop – which we’ve been told are high on scripting, have all matured and been boxed up and the plants deleted. So if ever there was a time for our homestead island to NOT be laggy, it should be now.
To perhaps make up for this, my efforts in crossing turtles have finally paid off. I’ve been keeping a spreadsheet (yes, if I can handle sticking photographs up here on this blog, I thought I might be able to handle using a spreadsheet – admittedly it was initially setup for me by my niece) and I located two unrelated turtles with double Ace cards on their statistics. Not only that but it was our first mating of a red with a green turtle, after waiting for the red male to finally mature to breeding age over the last week.
I got two eggs – a dull tan coloured one, and the much awaited yellow. And fortunately the calculations with the cards (or a random piece of luck) paid off, and the golden egg has two fives as a pair, and obviously another pair inherited from the parents. Two pairs equals a 30% glow. It’s my first glow baby.
Now I’m keen to work out 1. How to play poker and 2. How to get to three of a kind, or even a flush oneday.
