With the V01.01.14 update to Petable Turtles being corrected yesterday came some actual benefits and thankyous for the issues. Free Food and the Egg Trader is finally coming today.
V01.01.14 Corrected
Yesterday our own turtle issues were corrected by Petable developer with changes to the server and a new beacon sent out. This beacon brought back all the missing turtles, those which had defaulted back to the standard brown colour (somebody in group called these ‘Turdles’) and paused or cloned turtles.And finally, after three days, we have some eggs laid overnight, so all seems right with our turtle world in the barn.
Sadly, we had to say goodbye here at the Pacific homestead, to the legless lavender turtle owned by Aunty. The turtle’s real self came back with a beacon click, and poor legless lass had to be deleted.Or did she? We’re wondering if we could bring her out of trash, just as a memento, kind of like a non-taxidermed or perhaps bronzed ornament.
Free Food
As a thankyou for our patience, and to make up for the fact all those turtles had been busy eating away for a few days, Petable sent out food bowls which would be filled with free food – both normal and hatchless – until next Tuesday. Details on their official blog post.
For those like us, in European timezones, you may have got the first lot of food bowls, but overnight our time another set were sent out. The initial set deleted scripts on rezzing, so won’t be working. If you didn’t get the second set through groups or whatnot, you’ll find them archived on group notifications. Some other non-official groups have also sent these out.
Drag copies from your inventory, don’t shift-copy while out in-world, else you will have SL delete the food scripts. The bowls will de-rez next Tuesday 6th October.
Egg Trader and Points Items
Coming today!
The Egg trader is a device promised since the beginning of Petable Turtles, promising that excess turtle eggs could be traded in for points (points show in your Petable HUD) and those points traded for exclusive items. With the V01.01.14 update, the server and turtles are now ready for this egg trader, and no further update is required. So, finally, the egg trader and new points items will be released, today sometime.
Rather than as I envisioned – something like having to tp somewhere with all our eggs to swap with a particular person (I pictured the egg trader as a man, for some reason), we will all be supplied with two different ‘portals’. Because I haven’t bothered unboxing and reboxing all older version eggs as new updates to the turtles have been released, I will be forced into using the so-called ‘unsafe’ version of this egg trading system. This isn’t quite so unsafe, as we have a small breeding pen, and all our newly laid eggs will be safely boxed away at the time I set the trader out.

New Points Items – buy these with points
- Tiny Full Group Bowl (200 points) – Feeds 1 turtle for 1 day, and has “full group” functionality
- Small Full Group Bowl (500 points) – Feeds 1 turtle for 1 week, and has “full group” functionality
- Growth Cookie (750 points) – Raises one turtle’s size permanently by 50%. Only one size modifier can be used per turtle
- Shrinking Vial (750 points) – Shrink’s one turtle’s size permanently by 50%. Only one size modifier can be used per turtle
- Medium Normal Food Bowl (750 points) – Feeds 5 turtles for 1 week
- Medium Full Group Food Bowl (1000 points) – Feeds 5 turtles for 1 week and has “full group” functionality
- Third Card Reveal (1500 points) – The third playing card is revealed on the turtle of your choice, and can only be used once per turtle. This shows up in the HUD visibly, as well as in the touch text and the API
- Large Normal Food Bowl (1750 points) – Feeds 10 turtles for 1 week
- Large Full Group Food Bowl (2250 points) – Feeds 10 turtles for 1 week and has “full group” functionality
- Egg Collector (6000 points) – While this is rezzed, all eggs that are laid or unboxed within 96 meters of the collector will move to within 1/2 meter of this when they appear. Additionally, the eggs will stay completely non-physical, so this creates no collisions
The trader himself will collect your eggs through mysterious portals that come in two different versions. The first (”unsafe”) version will work with eggs of version 01.00.10, 01.00.11, and 01.00.14. The second (”safe”) version will work only with version 01.00.14 eggs. Both will work the same way — you rez the portal, click the egg you wish to turn in, and then click the portal to turn it in and get points for it. The difference is that if the unsafe version is out while you are boxing eggs, they will be turned in to the trader rather than boxed if the portal is closer to the egg than the stand is. Because you will be getting points for these and we have provided the “safe” version, we will not be able to replace eggs lost this way to the unsafe portal version. Grim and I strongly recommend using the safe version whenever possible.
The larger food bowls will be helpful to me, I’m not so sure I want to spend so much points to see a third card on only one turtle, although I can see how this might be something worth saving up points (which you get for breeding turtles) as an end-goal. And the resizing of turtles – now that’s just odd. *Grin*.
The Petable developers have created points items most demanded, so I am going to presume that some people want giant or dwarf turtles for whatever reason. Hmmm, must try myself.
As a small-time breeder we don’t have a need (or the points) for the egg collector. But for major turtle farmers, I’m sure the collector is a good tool to have around. There are similar third party products being developed to notify for newly born turtles or laid eggs and I’ve seen one which suggests it will collect them (the eggs, not the turtles, lol).
So, bring on the trading system so that I can get rid of my own eggs collected so diligently over the past few weeks.

It’s actually a picture of the Egg Collector, one of the items that can be purchased with points, as opposed to the Trader, which lets you trade in eggs for points.
That’ll teach me to try blogging with a chest infection. Apologies to Shelly and Petable team for the mixup in what the image was.
