So, I finally got around to updating the Petable Image gallery I’m keeping here on The Chicken Diaries. I took the four Valentines we own up for a ride to the photobooth and here they are. We were fortunate enough to get two different varieties but I was forced to go out and buy another two, to semi-complete my own collection.
This is one collection which will never be complete, as the fifth variety – Kiss Me – is incredibly rare, and one is for sale by auction as we speak for an opening bid of L$25,000. Another was sold for L$9000 yesterday, which was actually a little under what I had initially speculated on. I’ve seen New Years eggs going for L$10,000 – $15,000, depending on their colour or glow/shine qualities.
As there are only a few Valentine-Kiss Me’s (a rough guess would be about six to ten), and a couple of people were lucky enough to have more than one, getting such a rare gift of an egg like that seems something towards paving your way to riches nowadays. Riches, that this little collection can’t afford. So the image gallery will have to make do today with four lovely little pastel hard-shell candy turtles. Cute, yes?
