sionChickens Version 12

Updating sionChickens to V12

Just a few days after everyone went sionCorn crazy, sionLabs released sionChicken Version 12. Here are the tips and links to the notecards for Version 12. Regarding our own personal decisions to go ahead and update, well, we will save that for another blog. Here I will give you a series of tips on how to update to Version 12, and some links to the notecards.

Updating

  1. Updating to Version 12 is entirely optional. You can continue with your Version 11 Lagless sionChickens and Eggs so far indefinately. There are pros and cons for both keeping to Version11s, or updating to Version 12.
  2. Updating is free, and no longer takes place via the normal routes – this used to be via food (on Versions previous to V11 Lagless, or via proteggtors or transport boxes).
  3. Updating takes place by using a free updater orb. This is available via sionChicken vendors. You can either pick this up by buying it for L$0 from sionLab’s HQ at Boardman, or other reseller vendors.
  4. Use your V11 proteggtors up before updating, as some of these can revert back your eggs even if updated.
  5. The updater, once rezzed out, will update your closest chickens and eggs which are out on your land, one by one, within a 5 meter radius.
  6. The updater only works for 4 days, and expires after this – even within your inventory. You can pick up another free updater from vendors at any time. You may need to do so at points in the future if you purchase Version 11 eggs which will remain on sale.
  7. Updating chickens is basically like unpacking a new chicken from out of a transport box. Make sure you set home on the updated chicken so that it knows where to find it’s food or it may become hungry.

Vendors

  1. There are now three different sets of vendors – the sionCorn vendors, the sionChicken Version 11 vendors, and the new sionChicken Version 12 vendors.
  2. Note that if you have Version 12 sionChickens or Eggs you will need to purchase from the V12 vendors, as products for these do not work with Version 11 chickens.
  3. You can now pick up a copy of the sionChicken vendors for yourself, your farm etc – for free. There is a ‘vendor’ vendor only at Boardman to get these, called a Catalogue vendor. This is helpful if you have a few chickens, to save yourself the journey to go out to buy new food etc.
  4. Boardman will continue offering the V11 sionChicken vendors at its site. The catalogue vendors elsewhere will be updated to V12. However – as above, you can pick up the V11 catalogue vendor for yourself, and other farmer markets may also offer these for you.
  5. V12 vendors now have changed proteggtor packs – these will come in packs of 10, not 20.

Version 11 sionChickens

  1. Version 11 sionChickens can remain at Version 11 indefinately. Eggs from these chickens will be at V11 also, but can only be put into V11 proteggtors to store into your inventory.
  2. Version 11 sionChickens can not use V12 accessories such as transport boxes etc.
  3. There is a perceived pro in keeping sionChickens at V11 in that the eggs can be stored indefinately.
  4. You will probably see V11 chickens and eggs still being sold at markets for the forseeable future, and you can update these once you’ve got them home with the free updater if you so wish.
  5. V11 chickens will not eat from the new strains of food produced by sionCorn.
  6. V11 chickens will not produce the newer rarer breeds that V12 chickens will do.

Version 12 sionChickens

  1. V12 chickens and eggs require V12 transport boxes and proteggtors  – these are available from the V12 sionChicken vendors.
  2. V12 chickens can happily eat V11 food.
  3. V11 radi-o-statics and V11 healing kits work with V12 eggs and chickens.
  4. There is a new rare race released with the V12 sionChicken. Or two. The first, as notified by the notecard is called an Astral Chicken, and can only be laid by v12 hens. It will apparently be semi-transparent. The second is suggested to be available with a special food variant of the sionCorn project, however the notecard gives no name to it other than the ‘Mystery’ Race.
  5. V12 sionEggs are set to decay in 60 days time. This is whether in your inventory or not. This is perceived as a con against updating by some chicken farmers, although if you sell eggs quite quickly, may not be a hindrance. Be aware that if you are purchasing V12 Eggs, however, that you can’t store the eggs for some time in your inventory before rezzing them out to hatch, or they will decay / die.
  6. sionEggs at V12 have had a slight name change, with the dropping of a space at the end of the name. This will currently affect supplementary products available such as the egg detectors offered free from many groups, or the EggBoxers, Colour namers etc. Such accessories, at this early point, have not been updated for V12.

New End License User Agreement

  1. The new ELUA which came out this week is relevant to V12 sionChickens and above, and to sionCorn.
  2. This ELUA is released everytime you purchase corn or V12 products.
  3. The ELUA basically provides some contracts that you agree to update to future versions within 7 days. This is to possibly counteract previous problems caused by some sionChicken farmers not updating to V11 Lagless, and the complaints which ensued. By accepting the ELUA you are contracted to update with future versions.
  4. The ELUA does not apply to V11 sionChickens.
