This weekend the sionLife Official in-world group announced that sionLife was now on Facebook. Going to see, I found 28 members joined up already. And an interesting logo being used.
Previously we’ve read where sionLabs has called it’s sionChickens “classics” with the nuance that sionLife’s AI creatures – when they may make an appearance, will be the future.
With the logo on Facebook, perhaps we also now have another indication towards the older products which originally came out of sionLabs – “golden”. The logo makes use of the famed Golden Rooster – which is still in demand nowadays, and a corn emblem.

Facebook Usage
This is the second time this weekend that a breedable creator has announced they are on Facebook. Previously HunnyBunny announced their own Facebook, and Twitter pages.
Having personally had a Facebook page for much longer than I have had a second life, I am reluctant to join up on either. My Facebook page is based on real life friends and interests, and I would prefer to keep the lives separate.
This may well be a personal foible, but simply looking at the images of members on the sionLife Facebook page takes away something from the mystery that sits upon avatars and the ‘typist’ behind that avatar. Some are using a second life image as their Facebook avatar, but others have uploaded real world shots.
I personally prefer to keep the anonymity that an SL avatar grants me. In Second Life I can look like anything I want to, that’s the whole pretence behind having an avatar – both to be the person we think we are inside, and to break down social barrers or experiences caused by how we might look or be outside. To maintain that image that I have purposely built up in my second Life, and to allow me to join with those SL Facebook groups, I would either have to set up a brand new ID for myself on Facebook, or change my avatar image on Facebook – which would confuse those who know me within my real world. Both sound too much work, so I’ll not consider it at this point, as an individual choice.
But that’s just me, I’m sure.
