SL Photography | Sanu Gallery Skybox

I love collecting skyboxes. Somebody really should start a Skybox Anonomous Group to help me conquer this problem. In the meantime, I took a look at Sanu’s latest out – the Gallery Skybox.

The Gallery Skybox is intended as  living gallery. But I thought it just as interesting if you’re after a skybox for your private photography studio, particularly if you’re a blogger or model who keeps multiple backgrounds and props around. Like me.

The Sanu Gallery Skybox comes in at 42 prims. There are two versions in the purchase – one setup with a quick texture change option rather than having to adjust textures. Both are copy versions, so you can keep various copies around perhaps themed as you please.Internally the footprint is 20×30 metres, however with the side posing / gallery projections the exterior size is 32×42 metres (each gallery pod has a depth of 6 metres obviously).

The purchase also gives you three different sized podiums (no poses inside) to stand yourself or objects on, a spot light and the Lag pose stand. The Gallery Skybox costs L$495.

The skybox consists of a single room, but each side has a number of pod frames set into it  – ten in total. You can tell more exactly when looking at the exterior of the skybox (above). These framed pods are already textured with a moody forest scene, but you can re-texture as you please. There are many textures and photo-studio backgrounds out there to use.

For my example I chose a sunset natural scene to put into one of the pods. I then used the PhotoHud (reviewed at TCD here) to put a pose ball into the pod, and choose some poses for the scene, and for the frame itself. The PhotoHUD allows for accurate positioning to the millimetre for the poses, meaning I could position myself sitting in and out of the front large frame, or inside the actual pod itself. You can see how large the pod is, by the size of my body inside of that – I have a tall Amazonian avatar. In fact, several avatars could fit into the one pod, useful for group poses.

Sanu Gallery Skybox plus Lag PropThe pods allow you to put small props inside of them also. In my example I’m using the ‘Lag’ prop which comes from Sanu in the Gallery Skybox package. It is built on a podium and has the one stand position.

The Gallery Skybox is setup to provide a living gallery. Imagine having a set of friends meeting inside the room, and being surprised when the photographs of their friends start moving. Avatars can pose as living sculptures within the gallery side-pods, framed for posterity also.

If you like to have multiple or favourite backgrounds out also, then perhaps the Gallery would make a good choice for a personal photography studio. You can set pose stands into the pods, or use something like the PhotoHud or small props or poseballs to model with.
