SL Prefabs | Treehouses for a Tropical Setting

tropical treehouse details 2

Well, my niece, god bless her, is getting antsy about redecorating up the place. She even killed off two more of the chickens this morning to make more room. Then she pointed out a treehouse she found on XStreetSL, and I started laughing so she got all offended and told me to ‘sort it, then’.So I did, I went off and looked at some palm treehouses.

Victoriana Palm TreehouseThe treehouse that started this all off is found at xstreetsl. This is the odd thing of being a Victorian house stuck up into some palm trees. You see what I mean? Who would have thought to stick a Victoriana house up a tree in the first place, let alone some palm trees. Somehow, it appears to work, and on viewing it in SL, it actually looks quite nice – fresh in blue paint and detailing.

The blog for the creator, Cesila Treehouses, shows a few more treehouses of various designs. So, after taking a look at xstreet, and that blog, I went to investigate, overlooked by Pacific’s spycat, Scratchy.

In my own opinion, the blog doesn’t do justice for what is available. Once I zapped myself into the in-world SIM,  I found myself surrounded by tropical treehouses up palms, having arrived on the Treehouse SIM. Anyone of these houses would make Pacific happy for our tropical beach setting.

Sizes, prims and costs are various. And I couldn’t make up my mind on several. Most have several platforms strapped together with rope bridges, which aren’t too rickety for my old legs, although I wasn’t happy about having to climb the ropes provided to get up to some of the higher platforms. But I’ll condescend by saying the little pool bath found on several of the houses was worth the climb. (Sorry, for all those who have had to now view me in a swimming costume, but at least I’m not naked).

Several platforms in the hut-type treehouses have privacy curtains also, while baths have been set shielded by tree trunks and foliage.

To help we elderly out, Thorlean also has a teleporter system for sale (and incorporated into several of the houses) – which I’d recommend to Pacific to save my own elderly bones from the stress of rasping up and down a rope, although… Thorlean also sells the climbing ropes, and some waves to accessorise your tropical paradise, hammocks , palms trees, rope bridges and other beach-y accessories, a waterwheel, and some water prims.

There are also smaller primmed tropical tree houses, and two with a full prefab beach-house up some palms – which from the ground look like the legs of an elephant (in my opinion).

Ah, but the beachhouse has an elevator! That sold me! On the second floor, there is a large corner bath under a large glass ceiling, and unfortunately a climbing rope up to the top floor balcony, which is admittedly, rather pleasant. And to complete the set there’s a much larger beach house on several floors set into a large palm grouping – although it doesn’t have an elevator.

Outside of the palm tree houses, there are several log cabin and other treehouses set into foliaged trees. One includes an open circular fireplace set into a cabin with etched glass windows featuring forest animals.

Across a small stream you change SIMs from the Treehouse SIM containing Thorlean’s work, to that of Celisa Treehouses, where there are some lovely houses  set into various tree forms, including the Victoriana house.

For those looking for treehouses perhaps to set out onto a forest environment, there are some beautiful examples from Celisa. There is a good selection to choose from, for fitting onto smaller 512m plots also. My favourite of all of the is the rundown ivy-covered treehouse for a 1024 sized plot. It has three levels, with the treetop level containing a wonderful private bath area.

There is also a small treehouse built on a barrel shape with three levels, and a hidden room, with a lockable teleporter system. When I first saw the barrel, I thought of Pacific and her cat-neko like hankerings, and this looks like something any cat might like, especially ones who live in a forest perhaps. There’s actually two hidden rooms in it, because it’s set on some rocks which make a hidden cave underneath also.

All of the treehouses are copy and modifiable, and some sections of the houses and trees are phantom, allowing you to (accidentally) walk through them, if you’re clumsy like me. Where you don’t want to do that, say when you’re up on a platform, solid guard rails and walls are provided. This meant I couldn’t stroll off a balcony and plummet to the sandy floor.

The treehouses at Treehouse and Celisa have been well thought out, and detailed in some very nice textures. Sizes are available for all sized plots, and cost-wise, they appear very reasonable. Although you may well find other very nice and larger treehouses out there (perhaps with flexi foliage and shadows), what impressed me about these was the fact that they fit well in the environment. Instead of having a massive giant tree plonked onto a little island, the treehouses I previewed here allow enough primmage to add furniture and further landscaping around the trees on many plots, making them part of an overall scene.

The sales boxes are well constructed, with prim and size information ready. The only thing I wanted from these was an indication of height of the structures (as we live where there’s a height restriction in the covenant).

However, with the information supplied, and a huge selection of treehouses to choose from, I will be recommending to Pacific that if she is seriously thinking about getting in one with nature and living up a tree, Thorlean and Celisa’s treehouses are definitely ones to check out (and spend an hour or two bathing in).
